    Leveraging Synergi Electrics’s Batch Analysis

During the distribution planning process, you are often required to run successive analyses to determine the impact of changes in loads and generation. This requires many manual steps as you update your model for each subsequent analysis run and then review and compare the results to the previous analysis. Synergi’s Batch Analysis allows you to manage and automate much of this process by using an Excel spreadsheet that contains specified model inputs and result outputs. The Batch Analysis tool can save you significant time in the analysis and evaluation of each of your analysis results.

    Synergi Gas parametric studies

A parametric study is when one or more input parameters are varied across a range of values to analyze the effect on one or more calculated output parameters. For example, you might want to determine the effects on the total system linepack and minimum pressure in the model when you vary compressor station set points in combination with opening or closing key valves and altering gas supply temperatures across a range. The challenge is that such a problem set may require hundreds or thousands of analyses that are prohibitively time consuming to attempt manually using Synergi Gas. Have you ever wished that you could “batch up” a set of changes to a model like those just described and have Synergi Gas calculate the results that you are interested in? Well, you’d better check out this presentation then to learn more!

    The pipeline ecosystem

DNV GL offer a broad array of software solutions to the pipeline industry. There are products for design, planning, operations, safety, inspection, risk, integrity and more. The chances are good that your company already licenses multiple different applications from us. Wouldn’t it be great if they could all talk to one another and share one representation of the data? Wouldn’t it be great if you could leverage the almost limitless computing resources that the cloud offers to derive new insights from your data into how to run your pipelines in a more safe, efficient and sustainable manner? Wouldn’t it be great if you could access results not just from your desktop but also from a web browser or mobile device?  We have just embarked on an ambitious initiative to author the next generation of world leading collaborative tools for the pipeline sector. And yes, in case you were wondering, that includes the next generation of Synergi Gas – Synergi 5.

The next dimension of flow profiles

This presentation will walk through the steps of creating a typical two-dimensional regular-rate normalized flow profile and then introduce the concept of “deskewing”. Deskewing further refines the data allowing temperature to be assessed as the third-dimension and profiles to be extrapolated out to a design day. The resulting 3D surface graph can be used to create peak hourly demand scripts and profiles that can predict system flows at any time of the day on any heating degree day (HDD) in Synergi Gas.

    C & M on CMM – a turning point

A decision was announced in 2013 to “rewrite” CMM, which prompted a few users to grab us by the arm and fearfully ask, “Don’t tell me this is true! Is it going to change? Am I going to have to redo my CID files??” Thankfully the answers to those questions proved to be ‘yes’ and ‘no’, respectively. We’re going to look at where we were vs. where we are now in 4.9.0, and perhaps have a conversations on where we’re headed.

Synergi Gas steady state liquids – Modelling gas and liquids simultaneously

In the midstream industry it is not unusual to have several pipeline systems operating simultaneously. These could include water, hydrocarbon, and gas piping. These piping systems could be fully independent, or could be connected by separation, processing, or mixing devices. This module provides the capability of modeling these systems at the same time, using a common map view.

Probabilistic risk model and results at AGL Resources

As risk assessment methodologies, tools, and processes continue to evolve in the industry, utilizing risk outputs to not only identify high risk locations, but to also understand the driver(s) behind the elevated risks for those locations is paramount. The ideal scenario for reducing pipeline risk is utilizing a risk-driven mitigation plan as this ensures the optimal use of company dollars, but also inherently means that a company has a firm understanding of their data and pipeline system. When the company understands their data and the implications for its inaccuracies, whether it be improper data alignment or incorrect application of data, they can effectively employ a campaign for preventative and mitigative measures (P&MM).

The pipeline ecosystem, DNV GL's vision
